A detailed description:
Carbon brush product ordering instructions
1. When ordering brush products, users should first indicate the order drawing number, the model and specification of the brush, and put forward the required quantity and delivery time requirements.
2. For brushes with special specifications and structures, users need to provide drawings or real samples.
3. For the supporting units that have stored drawings in our company, the drawing number must be indicated when ordering.
4. We list the more commonly used brushes of various specifications and models. If there are special requirements, they should be put forward when ordering and specified in the contract.
5. To correctly select the brush, the brush model must be selected according to the electrical characteristics of the motor; the brush specifications must be selected according to the specifications of the brush box; the brush structure type must be selected according to the structure type of the brush holder.
Correct installation method of carbon brush
1. The carbon brush must be installed into the brush holder to ensure that it can move freely up and down. The gap between the carbon brush and the inner wall of the brush holder is between 0.1-0.3 mm to avoid swinging due to excessive clearance between the carbon brush and the brush holder. The distance between the lower edge of the brush holder and the surface of the commutator should be kept at about 2 mm. If the distance is too small, the brush holder will easily touch the commutator; if the distance is too large, the carbon brush will vibrate easily and cause damage.
2. On the same motor, in principle, the same type of carbon brush should be used, but for some large and medium-sized motors that are particularly difficult to commutate, twin carbon brushes can be used. The sliding side uses good lubrication performance, and the sliding side uses restraint Carbon brushes with strong spark capability, resulting in improved brush operation.
3. The unit pressure applied to each carbon brush of the same motor should be uniform to avoid uneven current distribution, causing overheating and sparks in individual carbon brushes. The unit pressure of the carbon brush should be selected according to the "carbon brush technical performance table". For motors with high speed or motors working under vibration conditions, the unit pressure should be appropriately increased to ensure normal operation. For example: the carbon brush pressure of the traction machine motor is 0.4-0.6kgfcm2. Usually, if the carbon brush pressure is too high, the wear of the carbon brush will be aggravated. If the unit pressure is too small, the contact will be unstable and mechanical sparks will easily occur.
Pay attention to the following when installing engine carbon brushes:
1. If the lead wire of the carbon brush is covered with an insulating tube, it should be installed in the insulated carbon brush holder; if the lead wire is a bare copper wire, it should be installed in the ground carbon brush holder.
2. When installing the carbon brush into the carbon brush holder, pay attention to the direction of the curved surface. If installed incorrectly, the contact surface will be too small, resulting in weak or no power generation.
3. The carbon brush should be able to rise and fall freely in the carbon brush holder. If there is any sticking phenomenon, the excess part should be ground off.
4. The carbon brush spring should be pressed in the center of the carbon brush to prevent uneven force and eccentric wear.
5. The contact area between the carbon brush and the commutator should be no less than 34% of the total contact surface, and the carbon brush must not be oily.
Carbon brush replacement cycle standards
1. When the carbon brush is worn to a certain extent, it is necessary to replace it with a new one. It is best to replace all the carbon brushes at once. If the old and new carbon brushes are used together, uneven current distribution may occur. For large units, stopping to replace carbon brushes will inevitably affect production. You can choose not to stop. We usually recommend that customers replace 20% of carbon brushes each time (that is, 20% of each brush rod of each motor), each time The interval is 1-2 weeks, and the remaining carbon brushes will be gradually replaced after running-in to ensure the normal and continuous operation of the unit.
2. In order to ensure good contact between the carbon brush and the commutator, the new carbon brush should be ground. The grinding is usually done on the motor. Place a piece of fine glass sandpaper between the carbon brush and the commutator, and grind the carbon brush along the direction of motor rotation under normal spring pressure. The sandpaper should stick to the commutator as tightly as possible until the arc surface of the carbon brush matches, and then remove it. Sandpaper, blow away the dust with compressed air, and then wipe clean with a soft cloth. It is not advisable to use emery paper for grinding carbon brushes to prevent emery particles from embedding in the commutator slot and scratching the surface of the carbon brushes and commutator when the motor is running. After arc grinding, the motor is first run at 20-30% load for several hours to allow the carbon brushes and commutator to run in and create a uniform oxide film. Then gradually increase the current to the rated load.
Causes and solutions of several common carbon brush failures
